Detective Mannina has a young woman at the precinct for questioning. She sits “in the box” – Mannina’s phrase for interrogation room, while the teen who called 911 is in the box next door. There’s no clear indication which one is the suspect or witness, but Mannina knows both of them are armed with the truth. She decides to use her trademark style when questioning females – talk like a girlfriend. The trick of the trade begins to work, but then takes a turn, until Mannina lays out the harsh reality that a man was killed. Now the story begins to unfold, from a chance encounter to a shopping spree followed by a misunderstanding at a bar.
